Real Food - A simple overview

In today’s world so many people are:

People take pharmaceutical medicine to try to cure themselves, when so many of these ailments could have been avoided by diet and lifestyle changes. Many minor ailments can also be cured with the correct diet and more serious ones that require conventional medicine can be remedied faster if you eat the right foods.

The sad truth is that so many people live on foods full of sugars, sweeteners, bad fats and preservatives. Many think they have a healthy diet when they actually don’t.
The key to have a healthy diet is to eat real food.
What is real food? Well if has been overly processed and refined and even worse engineered by food scientists, it is far from real!

Harder to do away with
Pasta, noodles and couscous are processed foods. If you can’t live without them then choose whole grain, spelt, rice flour varieties. Choose freshly baked whole grain/spelt bread without a shelf life. It is best you think of these foods as a treat and do not make them part of your a stable diet.
Chocoholic?
Choose organic chocolates with 75% cocoa plus and very little sugar.
What to eat?
Choose Health first
Just think about the fact that the food industry is constantly coming up with new ways to make more unreal food with longer shelf lives and we are the guinea pigs in their experiments. Don’t be their guinea pigs!
Stick to what is real. The best health decision you can make today is to start eating real food.

- Packaged cakes and biscuits
- Common Sweets and chocolates
- Long life milk
And here are some ingredients that you find in products that are NOT real:
- Refined sugar
- Artificial sweeteners
- White wheat flour
- Margarine
- Hydrogenated fat
- Food additives
- Artificial food colouring
- Most food preservatives
- Powdered milk and eggs
- Texturants (such as thickeners found in tinned milk and some coconut milk)
- Emulsifiers (to help different ingredients stick together)

- Plenty of vegetables and fruits. These are full of phytonutrients such as carotenoids and flavonoids that help fight illness and keep you healthy. Buy locally grown and organic as much as possible. Avoid supermarket fruit and vegetables that have travelled from a far.
- Rice, quinoa, barley, buckwheat, millet, oats and other natural grains.
- Nuts and seed
- Homemade cereal mixes – oats, nuts, fruit, seeds
- Free range and organic meats
- Real cheese that comes from cruelty free farms and preferably organic
- Free range eggs
- Free range and organic meats
- Organic dark chocolate
- Home baked goods that don’t contain refined sugar and don’t use white wheat flour.
